Possessed is packed with Nolimit’s trademark xMechanics, and they tie straight back into the Cross. xWays symbols transform into two or three instances of the same paying symbol, never wilds, scatters or xActivations. Infectious xWays always split into two matching symbols and then infect every other copy of that symbol on the reels, making them expand to the same size. Big screens of premiums suddenly feel very possible.

The xActivation symbol is where the game surprised me. In the base game you only ever get one per spin, but it awards a respin and lights up positions on the Cross using symbols from the xCrucifix reel of premiums. As a slot regular who likes Nolimit at their nastiest, I walked away impressed with Possessed. Once I had wrapped my head around the Cross and xCrucifix, the gameplay felt far less intimidating than some of their older titles, yet the potential is still utterly frightening. The exorcism theme, the upwards-spinning reels and the brutal 50,000x cap make this a game I now fire up whenever I crave pure demonic volatility.
